TCWPA, in conjunction with Franklin’s Charge/Franklin Civil War Round Table, will host the TCWPA Annual Members Meeting on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 8:30 a.m. CT. The meeting will be held in the Community Room of the Harpeth Square Apartments, 159 1st Avenue North, Franklin. The meeting will include an hour-long PowerPoint presentation and will follow with a preservation tour of “The Hanging Tree.” The presentation and tour will be given by Taylor Agan, history lover and songwriter, Curb Records.
Taylor grew up knowing all eight of his great grandparents and began collecting family stories at an early age. He has twelve direct ancestors who served in the Civil War and has tracked down many of their diaries, letters, papers – and even his ancestor’s Colt 1851 Navy used during the Battle of Franklin and Nashville. His great grandmother still has the painting of her great uncle in uniform hanging on her wall.
This tour will include the site of “The Hanging Tree” which is located on private property and will also include a visit to Carter Hill led by Board member Greg Wade, a recently purchased property which is part of a $5 million Civil War preservation project in Franklin.
The tour will cover a mile of walking over mild to moderate terrain. Appropriate walking shoes and attire recommended. Tour length: 3 hours.
More details regarding the preservation tour will be sent closer to the date of the meeting and tour. Priority registration will be given to members of the Tennessee Civil War Preservation Association and members of Franklin’s Charge/Franklin Civil War Round Table. Registration is full at this time.
