On September 8, 1863 the brigade of Confederate Brig. Gen. Alfred Jackson attacked the 100 th Ohio Infantry at a bridge on Limestone Creek near Telford. Surrounded and out of ammunition the 100 th Ohio suffered 50 killed and 250 captured as prisoners.
