Communities Make Preservation Happen

“Applause is due to the many communities in Tennessee who’ve made the difference,” said TCWPA President Anthony Hodges, “Battlefield preservationists working in their communities are the backbone of any preservation effort. They help educate, build public support and devise strategies for preservation.” As we look back at 2019 and past years, there’s been no battlefield landscape saved without the help of the local community.

Battlefield preservation also calls upon the work of other larger communities such as Civil War Roundtables, local historical societies as well as state and national preservation organizations. All play a role. We urge you to join a community of like-minded folks and help us save our battlefields.   Whether you’re “driving for preservation” with your “Save our Battlefields” license plate, joining a local Friends or preservation group, or joining TCWPA, we welcome and appreciate your support!
